Mrs. Jacquie Hernandez
Guidance Counselor
First of all, I love Jesus and honoring Him in all I do is paramount. I grew up on the west side of San Antonio, the youngest of four children and my father was a pastor for fifty years. I graduated from Lanier High School and traveled to Turkey as an exchange student my senior year—I had never been away from home. Traveling became very important to me, so, as a junior at St. Mary’s University, I enhanced my education by interning at the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy in San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon graduating from St. Mary’s, I visited the Holy Lands - Israel, Jordan, and returned to Turkey a second time.
I thank God for every opportunity and challenge that has crossed my path. The education I have attained until now has been very broad, and my work experiences have expanded my worldview thus enhancing my study of people and organizations. I hold a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University in Multinational Organization Studies, having majored in public administration and Spanish. Currently I am pursuing a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. My course work has included counseling theories, human development across the lifespan, counseling diverse populations, career counseling, abnormal human behavior, and ethics in counseling.
I have been happily married to my best friend from high school since 1998 and we have two children who have been at CASA since 2005. I thoroughly enjoy helping people and believe it is a ministry to which God has called me. I love encouraging others to be all that God created them to be.
